I passed my doctoral defense!

Dear Friends and Readers,

I just wanted to let you all know that I passed my dissertation defense Wednesday.

I am now a completely useless kind of doctor πŸ™‚

I cannot help you if you’re in cardiac arrest, but I can textually analyze you πŸ™‚

After months of exhaustive work, I am very much looking forward to getting back to two things in life that give me pleasure: cooking and being in regular touch with you all.

I want to thank you all for all of your support during this long process. I couldn’t have made it this far without you!

More updates to come,

PS. The day after the defense, I got an hour-long massage at a fancy spa, ate a giant plate of fried food, and did not open MSWord once πŸ™‚

PPS. And big thank you to Kelly for my very own “Not that kind of doctor” T-shirt from I am wearing it with pride! You’re the greatest!

  1. Yippie!!! Congratulations! All your hard work paid off!!! I will put you on my speed dial in case I have a textural analysis emergency. πŸ™‚

  2. Congratulations, Dr. Daisy! Now, it’s time to break open some champagne or simply to sit back, chill out with a glass of wine and a spritz of some great perfume. I look forward to your post-dissertation adventures. πŸ™‚

    • Thank you, Victoria! It still hasn’t sunk in yet that it’s over and everything feels pretty surreal!

I have been trying to ease back into life slowly though. I got a haircut today and am feeling more like myself with each passing hour!

  3. Yah hooooooooooo!!!! Hooooooo!!! Yeah! I’m so happy for you. πŸ™‚ Oh yes….Like the previous poster, Victoria, said should we refer to you as “Dr. Daisy”? I like it…it has a nice ring to it.

    • Thank you, RubyandWheaky!

For a while, I had my students refer to me as Grandmaster D — because I was their teacher and I could make them do that πŸ˜‰

But Dr. Daisy works too πŸ˜‰

  4. Ross: Phoebe, there is no secret, okay? I didn’t propose!
Phoebe: Are you lying? Is this like that time you tried to convince us you were a doctor?
    Ross: I am a doctor!

    Congratulations!!! πŸ™‚

    • Haha! I completely forgot about that one. Hilarious!!!

Thanks, Undina! It feel good to have the defense behind me.

More time for sniffing perfume and eating bacon! Maybe not necessarily at the same time πŸ˜‰

    • Yes, the dissertation took over my life! Am slowly starting to reclaim it bit by bit. My revisions are due in a couple weeks, but I hope to be able to get a little more blogging in before then. I missed you guys!

      • Thank you so much for rescuing me from the spam folder. More importantly for letting me know. I have been commenting on all the blogs I follow but my comments aren’t showing up…now I know why. I’ll have to investigate. I may need a good researcher like yourself. Hope this comment gets to you.

  5. Kelly O

Hehehe…you’re welcome! You totally deserved it! You worked so hard! Congrats again!

  6. Doctor Daisy!!!!

A big congratulations to you, lovely one. So well deserved, and so exciting. Gee, you’re almost at the end. Hooray!!! Can’t wait to celebrate in NY with you.

Wow, I’m so proud of you.
    Much love,
