Dearest Friends,
It’s July and it’s Brooklyn Ice Cream Takedown time again! As many of you know, two years ago I took home awards from both the people and the judges for my Backwoods Blueberry Buttermilk Sherbet with Moonshine That netted me TWO ice cream makers + Anolon and Microplane goodies, ya’ll! Last year, the People awarded me the grand prize of a Kitchenaid Stand Mixer + Ice Cream attachment and more for Y Tu Mango Tambien, my mango-tequila-lime sorbet with Mexican chili spice topping!
Can I do it again? Will it be a three-peat? Can my kitchen accommodate any more appliances? Do I stick with sorbet? Do I go crazy with custard? Do I finally make that gazpacho sorbet that grosses some of you out?
There are no guarantees, but I will try my best! If you would like to come out and support me and my perennial ice cream bitch helper David, the Takedown will take place this Sunday, July 12th at the Royal Palms Shuffleboard Club in Brooklyn from 12-2pm.
Tickets for the Ice Cream Takedown usually sell out, so if you’re interested, I would jump on tickets soon! Here is the link: http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/1720319
To Everyone, I sincerely thank you so much for all support you’ve given me for these competitions. You all inspire me and I couldn’t and wouldn’t do this without you!
Looking forward to seeing and feeding you at the Takedown! For those of you too far away to join us, full updates coming soon!
Xoxo,
Daisy
I can’t wait to see what you whip up this year. I’m having a hard time imagining what a gazpacho sorbet would be like. I love gazpacho so I am not grossed out by that idea. The rest of the world might not be ready for it though.
Good luck!
Thank you, Poodle! And many apologies for the late reply to your comment! As you already know, I didn’t place at the Takedown. But in a way it feels kind of liberating. Now, I can go back to doing something wacky that makes ME happy without worrying about pleasing anyone else.
Gazpacho sorbet Fed-exed your way, perhaps? 🙂
Good luck, dear Daisy!
(gazpacho sorbet sounds extremely interesting 🙂 )
Thank you, Undina! I didn’t end up placing, but I was okay. Another blogger friend of mine took first place and I was so happy for her! That’s what really matters: friends, old and new.
AND yes, it also frees me up to be more experimental!
Good luck and can’t wait to see what you come up with!
Thank you! It’s always great to see your comments, especially since I’m not on WP as much these days! I was thinking about you and your blog the other day actually: I’m following Craftsman and Wolves on IG and every time I see a post from them, I think how nice it would be to visit SF again! Are you in Instagram, btw?
As for the competition, I didn’t place, but it feels kind of liberating. Recipe forthcoming; I made a chocolate-mint sherbet!
Hi Daisy!
Sorry you didn’t win, but now the pressure is off, and you can plot your comeback next year!
I haven’t been on WP as much also, but your last couple posts are inspiring me. I have so many photos stored up for posts, but maybe I should join Instagram and get them out faster. What’s your IG?
Hi Michael!
Me too! I have such a backlog of food blog photos, it’s kind of embarrassing. It just take so much time and life has been pretty busy the past few years! Instagram has been great as it allows me to keep up practicing food photography, even if I cook and blog less than I used to and eat out more. Also, I’m not on FB so it’s nice to be able to keep in touch with people via something other than twitter, which can be a little aggressive.
Anyway, my IG is @coolcookstyle. Take a look when you have the chance! I will follow you if you join!
