I don’t claim to say that this list is comprehensive or objective. In fact, it is completely subjective. I can only say that these are places where I like to eat and would recommend to my friends.
Restaurants in this city come and go. To keep up with changes, I update this list periodically. I have chosen to organize the list alphabetically, instead of by cuisine or by neighborhood. This is partly because I like alphabetical lists, but mostly because the boundaries of some New York neighborhoods can be hard to define (where does Noho end and Greenwich Village begin? is it Kip’s Bay or is it Murray Hill? East Williamsburg? I thought this was Bushwick . . .). The boundaries of cuisine are equally in flux (American Creative? Japanese-Italian Fusion Home Cooking? Mexican Barbecue?).
I have also chosen to refrain from any specific reviews; there are just too many restaurants.
